Panama Canal

The Panama Canal has 3 sets of locks, two near the Pacific end and one near the Caribbean end. The Miraflores Locks are the first locks at the Pacific end.
This yacht was going through ... with this freighter, which as we later observed, was itself a comparatively small ship.
The yacht's fee for passage was $500. The freighter's fee was $46,000.
The yacht about disappeared when the water drained ... and the freighter's hull dropped from sight.
The water drained remarkably quickly, in only a minute or two.
Six electric locomotives guide the ship through -- two pairs in front and one pair behind.
