The Canopy Tower

We stayed five days at the Canopy Tower.

The Canopy Tower The Canopy Tower is a former military radar site that has been converted into a hotel that caters mainly to birders. (The big dome is just a hollow shell now).
There's a great view in all directions from the platform on the top of the tower.

We did some birding from the platform on the top of the tower. For example we spotted this Great Potoo, a nocturnal bird that spends its days looking like a tree branch.

Hummingbird feeders at the base of the tower were dominated by White-necked Jacobins, a large hummingbird in which the males have striking white patches on the back and in the tail.

Tower library The top floor of the tower is a common area, with a library and dining area. The food was great.
