We stayed five days at the Canopy Tower.
| The Canopy Tower is a former military radar site that has been converted into a hotel that caters mainly to birders. (The big dome is just a hollow shell now). |
| There's a great view in all directions from the platform on the top of the tower. |
| That's the Panama Canal in the middle distance. |
| We did some birding from the platform on the top of the tower. For example we spotted this Great Potoo, a nocturnal bird that spends its days looking like a tree branch. |
| Hummingbird feeders at the base of the tower were dominated by White-necked Jacobins, a large hummingbird in which the males have striking white patches on the back and in the tail. |
| The top floor of the tower is a common area, with a library and dining area. The food was great. |
| Guest rooms are on the second and third floors, in a compact arrangement. |
