Waterfowl at St. Paul

Bean Goose, subspecies middendorffii. Not a good shot, but unmistakeable with that bill and legs. An Asian vagrant and a real rarity; you won't find it in Sibley.

Cackling Goose, Aleutian subspecies, which has a conspicuous white ring around the base of the neck. Shot on a foggy day.

Emperor Goose. Asleep on the rocks; not seen to best advantage. Another Asian vagrant, but one frequently seen on the Pribilofs.

Pair of Long-tailed Ducks with Reindeer antlers on another foggy day. They are not quite in breeding plumage.
